Being a Pilot, Sheikh Mansoor was very keen in reviewing the exhibition and appreciating the technology that is being showcased in Dubai Helishow. He made a stop at 16 top exhibitors to gather more knowledge and information on the offerings.
Dubai Helishow 2014 which is in its sixth edition is a three day exhibition conducted every alternate year to showcase the best of biennial Helicopter Technology & Operations. The exhibition was held from 4-6 November at the Grand Stand, Meydan Hotel (Dubai), under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Some of the major global players exhibiting this year include Russian Helicopters, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, Petroleum Air Services, AAL Group, Ukrainian Helicopters.
Anand Stanley, Sikorsky Vice President, Middle East, Turkey & Africa, is leading the Sikorsky team at Dubai Helishow 2014. According to the spokesperson, “We are very optimistic about the exhibition this year. The Sikorsky booth features representatives from Team Seahawk offering the U.S. Navy’s MH-60R SEAHAWK® aircraft, the world’s most sophisticated anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare helicopter. Some of other important features are UH-60 BLACK HAWK and MH-60R SEAHAWK® helicopters, the S-92 and S-76D commercial helicopters, and the M28 fixed wing short take-off and landing airplane.”
AAL Group Ltd. is a first time participant in the Dubai Helishow and have occupied the biggest booth in the exhibition. “AAL, a premier aircraft owner-operator, MRO, and training center with operations around the world, is set to unveil its exciting and promising new “Mi-8MTV-14” prototype helicopter during the Dubai Helishow 2014. This event will celebrate a significant milestone in AAL’s integration of next-generation technologies into well-proven and reliable helicopter platforms. This new, more capable and upgraded Mi-8MTV-14 helicopter stands out against the rest of the renowned Mi-8/17/171 family due to its amphibious features. AAL is confident in market potential of this helicopter and is planning to continue its research and development work to increase the high-level performance and safety of the aircraft. The prototype of this exciting new aircraft is on display at AAL’s Dubai Helishow exhibition area” an AAL spokesperson said.
Ranganathan Jagannathan, Vice President – Head (Aviation) for Ramco Aviation commented, “In the Dubai Helishow, We would like to increase awareness amongst Heli-Operators and MROs on the latest practices with regard to Maintenance IT. It is the first time that we are attending the event and we are hoping for it to be an enormous success. The main agenda is to unveil and showcase to the region Next-gen advanced capabilities of Helicopter maintenance software onboard wearable devices such as Google Glass and Smart Watches which will enable true hands free operations, putting power back in the hands of end users such as heli-mechanics.”
