The Committee also reviewed the military commissions’ tasks and the latest developments related to IDEX, NAVDEX and UMEX which will run alongside IDEX.
Al Ketbi reiterated the importance of IDEX as a global platform held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and supported by HH Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with continuous follow up from HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
IDEX welcomes every 2 years key decision makers from the defense industry, including defense Ministers and Chiefs of Staff and defense experts from all over the world; making it one of the biggest defense events in the region.
The meeting which witnessed participation from HE Ali Saeed Bin Harmal, ADNEC Managing Director, Mr. Saleh Al Marzooqi, CEO IDEX as well as representatives of local and federal authorities and UAE Armed Forces GHQ, discussed key activities and key features of the grand opening ceremony of the 12th edition of IDEX conference organized by ADNEC in association with the UAE Armed Forces GHQ that will take place on 22-26 February 2015 at ADNEC centre.
UMEX which is held for the first time alongside IDEX 2015 will provide a remarkable platform for the latest innovations in the defense industry particularly in the unmanned defense systems space and is an area of key focus globally. UMEX will for the first time showcase a live demonstration of unmanned systems and vehicles in the Middle East and Africa region. The live demonstration during the opening ceremony will be held at ‘Tarif’ in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Al Ketbi stressed that hosting IDEX, NAVDEX and UMEX showcases the UAE’s and Abu Dhabi’s capabilities in organizing and hosting the world’s most significant exhibition. This further highlights the Emirate’s commitment and efforts to build a diversified and sustainable economy reflecting the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, which positions the defense and technology sectors as a key pillar.

During the meeting, IDEX also displayed its gratitude and appreciation towards the ‘Guardians of the Nation’ campaign, launched by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on his accession day to pay homage to the UAE Armed Forces and recognize their momentous role in protecting the country and safeguarding its security and stability.
During last edition, IDEX and NAVDEX attracted 1,112 exhibiting companies and over 80,000 visitors from all over the world.
