H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received on Monday the Canadian Minister of National Defense Harjit Sajjan, at his Majlis in Al Bahr Palace, UAE national news agency WAM reported.
They discussed ways of enhancing cooperation ties to the best interest of the two sides. They also reviewed coordination in military and defense affairs between the two countries. They exchanged views on the latest developments in the region, and both countries’ efforts to ensure security, peace and stability.
Among those who attended the meeting were H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative in Al Ain Region, H.H. Sheikh Surour bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative, H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care & Special Needs, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, and a number of Sheikhs and top officials.
The meeting was also attended by Fahad Al Raqbani, Ambassador of the UAE to Canada and Masud Husain, Ambassador of Canada to the UAE.
Furthermore, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, also received on Monday the visiting Canadian Minister.
The two sides discussed mutual ties between the UAE and Canada, especially in the military and defense fields. They also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region, and a number of issues of common concern.
Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the depth of relations between the two nations, and the nation’s keenness to strengthen them.
The Canadian Defense Minister praised the level of the bilateral ties between the UAE and Canada, underscoring the importance of enhancing these relations across a number of sectors. He also praised the country's pioneering status at the regional and international levels, and its initiatives to support international community efforts to achieve global peace, security and stability.
The meeting was attended by Fahad Saeed Al Raqbani, Ambassador of the UAE to Canada.
The Canadian Minister of National Defense Harjit Sajjan also visited on Monday Abu Dhabi’s Wahat Al Karama, the national landmark built to immortalize the sacrifices of the brave heroes of the UAE.
The Canadian Minister was received by Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Director of The Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office (MFAO) in the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
The visit began with the Guards of Honor performing a ceremony, after which Sajjan laid a wreath of flowers before the Memorial, a monument made up of 31 massive aluminum panels leaning on one another in a symbol of solidarity between the people and the leadership of the UAE.
Accompanied by Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sajjan toured the site’s prominent areas, before concluding his visit by signing the visitors’ log and paying homage to the UAE heroes for their noble sacrifices and inspirational bravery in the face of adversities.
