Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs, received Friday Nikos Dendias, Minister of Defence of Greece, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The meeting touched upon enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the defence and military fields to achieve their common interests.
The two sides also discussed the distinguished UAE-Greece ties and strategic partnership, which enjoy the full support and care of the leadership of both nations.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior officers and officials of the Ministry of Defence and the delegation accompanying the Greek Minister, UAE national news agency WAM reported.
Earlier, Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Executive Director of the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office, received Thursday at the Greek Minister for National Defence.
Upon his arrival, the visiting Minister, accompanied by Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun, attended the Guard of Honour ceremony, then laid a wreath at Martyrs’ Monument, which is made up of 31 panels leaning on one another as a symbol of solidarity between the leadership, people and soldiers of the UAE.
They also went on a tour across the memorial, during which the Defence Minister of the Hellenic Republic listened to a detailed explanation by Sheikh Khalifa about the different sections of Wahat Al Karama, which embody the bravery and heroism of UAE heroes, as well as the nation’s noble values.
Writing in the visitors’ log, Dendias expressed his respect and appreciation for the UAE’s martyrs.
