The Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) concluded Friday its participation in the mixed air exercise “Desert Flag,” which was carried out at Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), along with forces from several sisterly and friendly countries.
The Commander of the Saudi Air Forces in the exercise, Lieutenant Colonel Adel bin Saeed Abu Malhah, said that the exercise, which lasted for three weeks, included the implementation of offensive and defensive air counter-operations and support for surface forces within new and complex scenarios under various threats.
He noted that RSAF is participating with six fighter jets from the F-15SA system with full air, technical, and support crews, while carrying out 80 daytime and night sorties and aerial refueling, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The annual multilateral air exercise took place from 19 April to 10 May 2024.
In addition to UAE and Saudi Arabia, France, Kuwait, Australia, the UK, Bahrain, Morocco, Spain, the Republic of Korea, and the US participated in the exercise.
In another development, the Saudi Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Border Guard on Thursday concluded its engagement in the “Red Wave-7” mixed naval exercise for nations bordering the Red Sea.
The Director General of Border Guard Shayie bin Salem Al-Wadaani attended the exercise at King Faisal Naval Base for the Western Fleet.
The Border Guard’s participation aimed to fortify the principles of collaborative work among military forces while enhancing their skills and capabilities to effectively tackle diverse challenges through simulation of various combat environments. (SPA; Photo © Saudi Defense Ministry/SPA)
