Yemeni Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed met in Sana’a on Wednesday with Director General of the Department of Military Cooperation for the Middle East and North Africa in the Russian Defense Ministry Sergei Yurchenko.
During the meeting attended by Russian ambassador to Yemen Vladimir Didohchin, Ahmed and Yurchenko discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation and partnership between the two friendly countries' armies and ways of boosting them.
The Minister hailed the military cooperation between Yemen and Russia in the fields of training and exchanging experiences, expressing Yemen's willingness to expand future cooperation between the two countries' armies in various technical and military areas.
For his part, the Russian Ambassador affirmed that Russian government's readiness to strengthen military cooperation with Yemen in training, expertise and information exchange fields in order to enhance security and stability in the region and to encounter challenges of terrorism, smuggling and sea piracy.
