Bahrain’s Interior Minister Receives Outgoing 5th Fleet Commander

Bahrain’s Minister of Interior, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received outgoing Commander of the US Naval Forces Central Command, US 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces, Vice-Admiral Samuel Paparo.

The Interior Minister hailed the efforts of the US official in promoting relations between Bahrain and the United States, especially in security and maritime safety, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Earlier, the Interior Minister also received Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Road Safety, Jean Todt. The Chief of Public Security and Interior Ministry Undersecretary attended.

The Interior Minister welcomed the UN official, hailing the efforts of the Interior Ministry in reinforcing traffic safety for all road users and the role of the traffic law in reducing traffic accidents.

The meeting reviewed topics related to exchanging traffic safety expertise and experiences.

Furthermore, the Interior Minister received General Inspector of the UAE Interior Ministry, Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi. Chief of Public Security and the General Inspector of the Interior Ministry attended.

The Interior Minister welcomed the UAE official, hailing the robust, distinguished and historical ties between the two brotherly countries. He highlighted mutual dedication to reinforce cooperation, coordination and exchange of expertise and successful experiences to promote security cooperation.

The meeting reviewed security topics of common interest to promote security cooperation in facing challenges.
