The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) held the second meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of the member countries and supporting nations, chaired by Chief of the General Staff of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia General Fayyadh Al-Ruwaili.
The meeting discussed IMCTC strategy, notable achievements, and initiatives in various areas of the coalition's work, including intellectual, media, counter-terrorism financing and military efforts.
The participants also discussed the objectives of these initiatives and their role in supporting member countries in their fight against terrorism, violence and extremism, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Al-Ruwaili underscored the role of the coalition in preparing for the upcoming meeting of ministers of defense from IMCTC countries, scheduled for February 2024. The meeting will be chaired by Minister of Defense and Chairman of IMCTC Ministers of Defense Council Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi emphasized that the initiatives put forth by member countries were developed based on the requirements of the coalition. These initiatives, he said, were thoroughly studied and analyzed, and were taken in accordance with the coalition’s governance and international laws, to ensure that the desired objectives are achieved.
Al-Moghedi said that there have been over 60 requests for support from member countries, covering various aspects of counterterrorism. The coalition, he said, “has diligently examined” these requests, in compliance with international laws. Once approved by the IMCTC Ministers of Defense Council, they will be implemented as appropriately.
