Within the framework of the Armed Forces’ keenness to exchange scientific and practical expertise and support research activities with various civil universities, Major General Sami Mustafa, Director of the Chemical Warfare Department, and Professor Dr. Mohamed El-Khasht, President of Cairo University, signed a cooperation protocol.

The protocol aims to maximize scientific and research collaboration, as well as the exchange of technical consultations in various applied research studies to keep pace with successive developments in various scientific fields.

Additionally, it includes the implementation of joint workshops and field visits that contribute to enhancing specialized research foundations to address crises, disasters, and infectious diseases.

The signing ceremony was attended by several military leaders and professors, as well as deans of faculties at Cairo University, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

In another development, the Egyptian-Indo joint training “Cyclone - 2” concluded on February 1, 2024, after several days of training at the Egyptian rangers combat training fields. The training involved elements of the Egyptian Special Forces from the Rangers and paratroopers’ units, as well as the Indian Special Forces.

The final phase of the training included a raid on a terrorist hideout inside a residential city using helicopters. The participating forces successfully rescued hostages and captured terrorist elements. A number of non-standard shootings were also carried out, which demonstrated the high level and technical skills of the participating elements and their ability to carry out all tasks assigned to them with efficiency and competence.

Major General Mohamed Abu El-Fotouh, Commander of the Egyptian Ranger Forces, delivered a speech on behalf of General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, and Lieutenant General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. He stressed the importance of the training in exchanging expertise and learning about the latest combat tactics used by both sides.

For his part, the Indian Ambassador in Cairo praised the distinguished level of Egyptian-Indo relations and the professionalism shown by the participating forces during the implementation of the final phase of the training.
