Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology (CST) Commission announced a strategic collaboration with Boeing, for its newly launched advanced aerospace engineering program for aerospace engineering students.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the month-long program is designed to provide participants with practical experience with space technologies and to refine their skills in aerospace engineering and sciences.
Through this program, aspiring engineers and technicians will gain valuable insights and hands-on experience, leveraging Boeing’s vast industry knowledge and cutting-edge technologies. The initiative highlights Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing a strong and creative space industry and fostering a new generation of aerospace professionals.
Boeing, a leading industry player, is involved in this initiative to nurture local talent and give students and recent graduates hands-on knowledge and experience in these critical fields. The Saudi Space Commission emphasized that the goal of the program is to support the professional development of students and enhance their expertise in space technologies, preparing them for better future employment opportunities.
This collaboration will not only advance Saudi Arabia’s space capabilities but also contribute to the greater goals of diversifying the economy and supporting technological advancements in the region. The program consists of two stages. The first involves a theoretical component at a Boeing facility in Texas, where participants will delve into advanced architectural design studies, including those relevant to lunar and Martian missions, with guidance from NASA.
The second stage will be a hands-on phase at a Boeing site in Alabama, where participants will actively engage in practical projects, such as developing a carbon dioxide removal system for use in lunar and Martian environments.
The goal of the initiative is to leverage diverse expertise to strengthen Saudi’s space capabilities while investing in the education and training of emerging professionals. This effort aims to advance the nation’s progress in and cultivate the next generation of skilled talents.
