Rolls-Royce won an order worth $200 million at list prices from Tunisair for Trent 700 engines to power 3 Airbus A330 aircrafts. Tunisair ordered these aircrafts in July 2008.
The order, the first time the airline has selected Trent engines, also includes a TotalCare long-term service agreement.
"The Trent 700 will power our A330s which will replace A300-600 aircraft and allow Tunisair to operate new scheduled flights to North America upon delivery from Airbus in 2012," said Tunisair Chairman and Chief Executive Nabil Chettaoui.
The Trent 700 is the only engine specifically designed for the Airbus A330 and over 1,000 are now in service or on firm order. Rolls-Royce has announced $2.2 billion worth of Trent 700 orders in the last 4 months alone.
The engine remains the market leader for the aircraft, capturing 75% of orders over the last three years. It offers outstanding levels of performance and delivers the best payload capacity, he added.
"The combination of the Trent 700 and the TotalCare support package will deliver significant reliability and performance benefits to enhance its operations," added Metin Oktay, Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace Vice President, Africa.
