NBC-Sys, a subsidiary of leading European land defense company Nexter, is at the Euronaval trade show (Le Bourget, Paris, 17-21 October 2016), presenting the naval applications of its acknowledged expertise in protecting against CBRN (chemical, bacteriological, radiological and nuclear) threats.

At a time when the threat of nuclear, bacteriological and chemical attacks is widespread, NBC-Sys is designing and producing various air filtration systems, particularly for latest-generation ships around the world and the French navy's FREMM frigates.

This year, on the Nexter stand, NBC-Sys is exhibiting a marine filtration system with capacity of 2400m3/h, representative of those used on FREMM frigates, and a 300 m3/h NBC filter that forms part of those systems and is designed to be used against chemical warfare agents and particles using the “Citadelle” concept.

The system overpressures the vessel's living quarters by pumping in purified air. The quantity of air is sufficient to counteract the dynamic pressure of the air on the walls and to maintain a good level of physiological comfort for long periods.

An innovative water purification system (E-Chlorinator), which allows chlorine to be produced using ordinary table salt and provides protection against bacterial contamination in almost 6,000 liters of drinking water per hour, is also on display.

Nexter, the leading French land defense company is a KNDS Group company. It is dedicated to meeting the needs of French and other land forces internationally. The scope of its business includes the supply of weapon systems and ammunition for air and naval forces.

The acquisition of Belgian company Mecar and Italian company Simmel Difesa enabled the establishment, along with Nexter Munitions, of the third European player in the ammunition sector. The group continues its international development policy with 55% of order intake in 2015 destined for the export market.

In France, Nexter is fully committed to meeting the objectives of the SCORPION program, through the renovation of the Leclerc tank and the development of the future GRIFFON and JAGUAR vehicles within the GME (temporary consortium between Nexter, Thales and Renault Trucks Defense). Nexter's 2015 turnover amounted to €1.07 billion, of which 14% is allocated to Research and Development activities.

The group’s range of products consists of ARAVIS®, TITUS® and VBCI armored vehicles, CAESAR®, TRAJAN® and 105LG1 artillery systems, smart ammunition (BONUS), as well as customer service, support and recycling.

From design to production to customer support, NBC-Sys, subsidiary of Nexter, covers numerous technologies against Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear (CBRN) hazards. Its product range includes chemical and biological detection, air treatment for personal protection (gas masks, filter canisters, etc.) or collective protection (climate control and filtration system, incorporated in vehicles or buildings), as well as decontamination (aircraft, vehicles, sensitive equipment and persons).
