Raytheon Company issued the first tranche of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to Polish industry to participate in Poland’s Patriot Integrated Air and Missile Defense system.

The RFPs ask Polish companies to submit proposals to partner with Raytheon to design, develop and build a number of major elements for Poland’s Patriot.

“Raytheon is providing Polish industry with important, meaningful work to build the system that will help defend Poland’s sovereignty against airborne threats. This is the first of many RFPs that will grow Poland’s industrial and engineering acumen while putting jobs in Poland,” said John Baird, Raytheon Vice President of Poland Integrated Air & Missile Defense.

Raytheon proposed a three-phase program for Poland’s Patriot:

  • Phase 1 addresses immediate threats to Poland, such as hostile nations that possess aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Phase 1 also calls for Raytheon to provide Poland with Patriot Configuration 3+, the most current available configuration of Patriot. It will have Polish components, including an Identifcation Friend or Foe (IFF) antenna made by PIT-RADWAR. The same IFF antenna will be procured by other nations in the 13-country-strong Patriot partnership as part of their Configurations 3+ upgrade.
  • Phase 2 and 3 of the Polish Patriot solution defends Poland against belligerent nations by having Raytheon and Polish industry rapidly co-develop, build and field a 360-degree capability for Poland Patriot.

The first round of RFPs covers all three phases of the program. Like the PIT-RADWAR antenna, Polish-made Patriot elements will be made available to other Patriot partner nations for purchase.

Raytheon's Global Patriot Solutions is the most advanced portfolio of air and missile defense technologies in the world, providing comprehensive protection against a full range of advanced threats including aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
