The Iranian Army showcased the first domestically-manufactured flight simulator system, compatible with various types of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), during a ceremony participated by Iranian Army’s Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari.
At the event which was attended by Iran’s Army Commanders and drone experts, Brigadier General Heidari said: “Today, drones play an important and decisive role in promoting defensive and combat power of militaries, and it is a very valuable industry.”
The military official stated that the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces have reached a desirable position in the manufacturing UAVs, noting that “all the country’s borders where the ground forces are deployed are monitored and controlled with reconnaissance drones,” Fars News Agency (FNA) reported.
He further considered the role of the UAV flight simulator as one of the important elements in the training the drone pilots. “Today, we can design and produce what is needed in the battlefield,” he stressed.
Back in late May, Iran showed off an underground drone base where a range of advanced drones were housed and operated for potential combat and other missions.
During his visit to the base, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri underscored that the pilotless aircraft have enhanced Iran’s deterrence power.
He underlined the significance of drones in defending the country’s interests, and added that they have found a special place in different defensive, offensive, land, sea, air and air defense areas.
Noting that deterrence is not possible with old methods and equipment and requires new methods, Major General Baqeri stated that “the drones that we saw today can play such a role”.
