Defence and non-defence radar systems have been part of HENSOLDT’s core competences since the 1950’s. Today, HENSOLDT’s radar systems are in operational use around the globe in surveillance, reconnaissance, air defence and air traffic control applications.

TRML-4D - Multi-Functional Air Surveillance and Target Acquisition Radar System

The TRS-/TRML-4D Radar Family encompasses HENSOLDT’s latest members of C-Band (NATO G-Band) high-end multi-functional naval and ground tactical radars. Based on the most advanced solid-state Gallium Nitride Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) sensor technology with multiple digitally formed beams, TRML-4D (photo) is designed for near- to medium-range ground-to-air detection and weapon assignment. It is capable of detecting, tracking, and classifying various types of air targets, with a particular emphasis on small (RCS<0,01 m²), fast, and low-flying and/or maneuvering cruise missiles, aircraft and hovering helicopters.

The main benefits of this software-defined radar is the unique concept of simultaneous multi-beams and Doppler processing which ensures reliable execution of all operational tasks at a high update rate, excellent performance even in complex clutter environments and high target densities. It also allows for support of short range and medium range surface-to-air missiles and is designed for continuous operation and high operational availability. Maintenance-free missions are enabled by graceful degradation through the use of multiple solid-state transmit and receive modules. The low Main Time To Repair (MTTR), high reliability per component and the advanced built-in test equipment (BITE) together ease maintenance and facilitate the low life cycle costs of TRML-4D.

SPEXER® 2000 3D - Ground-Based Application

The SPEXER® 2000 3D is the latest innovative product of the SPEXER radar family, which has already proven its outstanding performance in integrated security systems in several regions of the world. The SPEXER® 2000 3D is in use for land, naval and coastal applications. It offers automatic detection, tracking and classification of surface and aerial, even hypersonic targets. Furthermore it is a light-weight, scalable and small-size radar solution, which provides scan-on-the-move capability for vehicle and ship integration, an elevation coverage up to 90° and available for 360° azimuth coverage.

The SPEXER® 2000 product family supports military operations and protect simultaneous sea, land, and air-surveillance in fixed, deployable and mobile configurations. It represents high-performance surveillance including automatic detection, tracking and classification of ground-, sea and air targets. SPEXER® 2000 3D MkIII broadens the capabilities for Ground Based Air Defense (GBAD) and Very Short Range Air Defense (VSHORAD)).

TwInvis - Passive Radar (see without being seen)

An innovation and new milestone in radar development is the TwInvis Passive Radar This product adds a new dimension to the world of surveillance and situational awareness. The product offers decisive operational advantages: TwInvis processes already existing analogue and digital radio broadcast and TV transmitters. It does not transmit any electro-magnetic energy and therefore cannot be located, this passive coherent location (PCL) sensor delivers a wide range 3D air surveillance picture including non-cooperative targets which remain undetected for most the conventional radar systems.
