Prince Salman Receives Spanish Defense Minister

Spain’s Defense Minister Pedro Morenés arrived in Riyadh on an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Friday.


Morenés lauded the role of HRM King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia in facilitating peace and international dialogue in the world. He said he was fully aware of the statements made by Saudi Kings on their keen concern for peace in the world.

He emphasized the growing relations between the two countries in the area of defense and pledged personally to work and coordinate with his Saudi counterpart to this end for the best interests of both countries.

Later Prince Salman hosted a luncheon for the delegation.

Defense Minister Prince Salman highlighted the strong Saudi-Spanish relations and said it has developed into a strategic partnership covering all areas and agreements and exchange of visits at higher levels.

He said the two countries have identical stances toward regional and international issues. Prince Salman’s statements came as he received visiting Spanish Defense Minister Pedro Morenés and a delegation accompanying him.

Prince Salman expressed hope the meeting would further boost relations between the two countries in the area of defense and witness more development for years to come.

Morenés conveyed the greetings of the Spanish King. For half a century relations between the two countries have been enjoying mutual respect and a series of agreements were signed including the friendship deals between the Kingdom and Spain, he said.
