A report on ‘OPVs & corvettes in the Middle East’ said regional governments’ are investing over US$20 billion on offshore patrol vessels to combat maritime threats. This explains why OPVs are now becoming the fastest-growing segment of the naval vessel market in the region.

The report provides an overview of the region’s procurement plans and further defines the opportunities existing in this market. It also highlights how priorities for OPVs vary across the Middle East, with improving the combat systems upon vessels and the procurement of agile Fast Attack Crafts (FACs) as the leading trends across the region’s maritime forces.

Organized by IQPC, the 6th Annual Offshore Patrol Vessels Middle East conference will take place at the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Resort & Spa in Kuwait City from 09 to 11 October 2017.

Senior decision makers from navies and coast guards across the Middle East and beyond will gather at this event to deliberate the emerging trends within the region’s maritime security, discuss the key advancements within the OPV market as well as share their upcoming requirements to advance their maritime capabilities.

Officially supported by the Kuwait Ministry of Defense and the Kuwait Naval Force, the 3-day event will also feature the OPV Middle East Gala dinner and a post-conference focus day on International Law of the Sea and Coastal and Maritime Surveillance.

The focus day aims to provide maritime authorities with a better understanding of the rules of engagement in a maritime context and the keys to enhance effective coastal and maritime surveillance capabilities in the Middle Eastern region.
