Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and Acting Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah has commended the Kuwait Air Force overhaul and modernization process, especially after the delivery of Eurofighter Typhoons and Caracal Helicopters.

The Defense Minister made this remark during an inspection tour of a number of Kuwait Air Force and Army Bases. The new aircraft will bring about a significant transformation in the Air Force’s capabilities with their state-of-the-art technologies and features, he affirmed.

“It will also help strengthen and raise the level of the armed forces preparedness,” he said, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

During the tour, Sheikh Fahad Yousef conveyed the political leadership’s greetings to the army personnel on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr and the leadership’s appreciation for the efforts and sacrifices they are making “for defending and protecting the sanctity of our dear homeland.”

He called on the Commanders of military sites to work relentlessly to bring the capabilities of army personnel to the desired levels of efficiency and effectiveness. The Defense Minister listened to briefings from Commanders of the military sites about the tasks and duties of their units and the degree of preparedness enjoyed by their members, as well as the level of military cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Defense and other military sectors in the country.

On 5 April 2016, a contract for the supply of 28 Eurofighter Typhoon multi-role fighter aircraft was signed between the Kuwait Ministry of Defense and Leonardo through its Aircraft Division acting as Eurofighter Prime Contractor Organization.

On 9 August 2016, Airbus Helicopters has signed a contract with the Kuwait Ministry of Defense for the purchase of 30 H225M Caracal multirole utility helicopters as well as an associated support and services package.

In another development, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah visited the operations room (112), the Khiran Coastal Center, the Um Al-Maradim Island Center, and the Qaruh Island Center. He was accompanied by a number of security leaders. The minister began his tour by visiting the operations room (112), where he listened to an explanation on how to deal with the incoming reports, the response mechanism, follow-up, and how to distribute them and coordinate with the concerned sectors.
