UAE, Angola Discuss Military Cooperation

Mohammed bin Ahmad Al Bowardi, UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs, received Salviano de Jesus Sequeira, Angolan Minister of Defense (photo), in the presence of Matar Salem Al Dhaheri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defense.

Al Bowardi welcomed Sequeira and praised the current relations between the UAE and Angola. They discussed means of promoting cooperation in defense and military affairs, Emirates News Agency WAM reported.

They also addressed the latest regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by several officers and officials from the ministry and the Angolan delegation in the Minister’s office at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Abu Dhabi.

For his part, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, received President Joao Manuel Lourenco of Angola, and his accompanying delegation at Al Nakheel Palace in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Hamdan welcomed the Angolan President, applauded the progressive relations of cooperation between the two countries and stressed the importance of furthering them for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.

Sheikh Hamdan and President Lourenco discussed the possibility of increasing cooperation in economic, commercial, investment and development fields. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments, as well as issues of mutual interest.

President Lourenco referred to the fruitful visit of Sheikh Hamdan to Angola last December and his meetings with Angolan officials.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials, Edeltrudes da Costa, Angolan Minister and Director of the Office of the President of the Republic of Angola and Dr. Jose Andrade de Lemos, Angolan Ambassador.
