Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army Lt.-General Staff Mohammad Khaled Al-Khodhr arrived in Amman on Sunday evening leading a delegation to the 10th Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX-2014) which runs from 05-08 May 2014.
The delegation includes senior officers from the different divisions of the Kuwaiti army; their participation in the five-day event aims to strengthen the defense cooperation with Jordan, said Kuwait's Military Attaché Major General Falah Al-Sunni.
“The Ministry of Interior and the Civil Defense are represented in the delegation by teams led respectively by Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry Major General Abdullah Al-Mhanna and Brigadier Khaled Al-Mekrad,” he told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
“Kuwait has been keen on participation in the bi-annual event since its first edition in 1996,” Major General Al-Sunni added.
SOFEX and its official Middle East Special Operations Commanders Conference (MESOC) are being held under the royal patronage of King Abdullah II, of Jordan, with the support of the Jordanian Joint Special Operations Command.
The exhibition and conference take place at King Abdullah I Airbase with over 600 participants from 52 countries.
On Monday 14 April, the Kuwait Ministry of Defense held a ceremony for appointing Mohammad Khaled Al-Khodhr as Deputy Chief of Staff with the rank of Lt. General.
Al-Khodhr's appointment was in line with an Amiri Decree signed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah congratulated Lt. General Al-Khodhr for winning His Highness the Amir's confidence, wishing him success in his on the new task, the ministry's Public Relations, Moral and Guidance Directorate said in a statement.
The ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff Lt. General Abdulrahman Al-Othman, Ministry Undersecretary Jassar Al-Jassar and members of the Military Defense Council.
