The UAE National Cyber Security Council and Injazat, the UAE’s home-grown technology leader in digital transformation, cloud, and cyber security, announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim for further improving coordination and response time to potential cyber-attacks in the UAE.

The MoU (photo) was signed by Ussama Dahabiyeh, Chief Executive Officer at Injazat and Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the Government of the UAE, at Intersec 2022, the largest security exhibition in the Middle East region, currently underway in Dubai.

The MoU will enable all government and semi-government entities to be safeguarded by Injazat’s Cyber Fusion Centre’s ‘Detection and Response’ services, UAE news agency WAM reported.

Underlining the UAE’s proactive approach to addressing the challenges caused by rapid digital technological development, the MoU will allow Injazat to provide standardized ‘Detection and Response’ services to all government entities at competitive rates and also train and equip UAE nationals in cyber security. In addition, it will enable Injazat to co-create and develop future-facing cyber defense products to proactively mitigate cyber risks and secure the digital infrastructure of the UAE, enhancing local and regional cyber security capabilities as well as demonstrating leading practice.

The MoU will help ensure business continuity and digital protection while supporting the vitally important national sectors to achieve total digital transformation.

The “Detection and Response” services would also involve cyber threat intelligence, threat defense operations and digital forensics, offering an integrated view of the continually evolving threat landscape with contextualized and actionable data at the council level to help make informed decisions and responses.

Injazat launched the region’s first-ever Cyber Fusion Centre (CFC) in June 2020 to boost protection against data breaches and cyber-attacks. The CFC stands apart from any competitor in its radically different approach to cyber defense by proactively managing advanced threats, unlike traditional Security Operations Centers, which is more focused on identifying and reacting to incidents. Cyber Fusion Centers also help organizations streamline their systems and assimilate information into actionable strategies and tactics while improving productivity and reducing costs.

Meanwhile, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) also signed at Intersec 2022 a MoU with the UAE Cyber Security Council to enhance cyber skills training in schools and prepare Emirati youth for careers in the technology industry.

HPE and the Cyber Security Council will launch various initiatives nationwide and expect to work with more than 500 students a year.

The MoU was signed by Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the Government of the UAE, and Ahmad Alkhallafi, Managing Director, UAE, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

An extension to HPE’s Emiratization program launched in 2019, the partnership with the Cyber Security Council will support the Government’s vision to enhance the skills of young Emiratis. The HPE Youth Acceleration Initiative will include workshops for schoolchildren, orientation days at HPE sites, careers advice, university lectures and an internship program, as well as an early careers program for graduates.

The partnership with the Cyber Security Council has three separate elements that support schoolchildren, university students, and graduates. HPE will partner with local primary and secondary schools to provide workshops in school and at HPE premises, include the HPE Digital Life Garage in Dubai - the company’s regional innovation hub. The workshops will provide insights into the IT industry, a day in the life of a technologist, and help school pupils with university and careers advice.

HPE is also extending its internship program for university students, offering 6- month work placements to enable students experience the corporate environment, IT industry and different roles within the business. For graduates, HPE’s early careers program unlocks their potential and enables them to acquire the foundational skills needed for a successful career in the IT industry. The two-year program includes exposure to the whole breadth of HPE’s business, including technology solutions, sales and marketing, and support functions.
