Bahrain’s Interior Minister Hails Ongoing Security Cooperation with Kuwait

Bahrain’s Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received in Manama Tuesday Kuwait Interior Ministry’s Undersecretary, Lieutenant-General Anwar Al-Barjas.

Chief of Public Security, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Inspector-General and General Supervisor of the General Directorate of the Interior Ministry Affairs attended.

The Interior Minister welcomed the guest and the accompanied delegation, who were on a visit to Bahrain to attend the first meeting of the Joint Security Committee between the Interior Ministries of both countries. The panel was formed based on a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

He hailed the solid and historical ties between the two brotherly countries, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his Kuwait Amir, His Highness Shaikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He congratulated Shaikh Talal Al Khaled Al Ahmad Al Sabah for his appointment as First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister of Kuwait.

The Interior Minister hailed the ongoing security cooperation and coordination between the two countries and their dedication to exchanging expertise in all security operations to protect security and general safety. He said the committee meeting reflects the commitment to reinforce joint security operations out of fraternity ties among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

He highlighted several initiatives and programs undertaken by the Interior Ministry to promote community security, including the Maan (together) program against violence and addiction that aims to protect youth through ongoing development and the launch of a new curriculum. He also mentioned the Recovery program of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, the alternative sentencing project and the open prisons program. He said the security work could develop through proactive measures and implementation of correct legal procedures.

He said that reducing crime rates showcases the success of security work, highlighting the significance of initiatives to promote national identity.

The meeting reviewed security cooperation and coordination, along with exchanging of training expertise and bilateral cooperation.

The two sides reviewed regional security developments to promote joint efforts to tackle security challenges.
