Iran’s pavilion has been selected as the best foreign booth at the 12th International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) that was held in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi on 19-22 November.
The Iranian pavilion was selected from among 53 countries showcasing their defense achievements at the exhibition.
The award for the best booth was presented by top Pakistani military officials to Colonel Mohammad Mohsen Shahabi, the Military Attaché of Iran in that country on Saturday evening.
Brigadier General Mojtaba Ramezanzadeh headed the Iranian military delegation taking part in the exhibition, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.
Top Pakistani military officials including the country’s Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Navid Ashraf have visited the pavilion of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the show. Some senior officials of the Pakistani Navy accompanied the Commander during the visit.
Ashraf was welcomed by Head of Iran’s military delegation to the IDEAS Brigadier General Mojtaba Ramezanzadeh. He visited different parts of the Iranian pavilion and got acquainted with the industrial capabilities of the Iranian Ministry of Defense in areas such as the production of war drones, missiles, defense systems and electronic weapons.
Later in the day, Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistani Army General Asim Munir also visited Iran’s pavilion. Iran's military delegation headed by Ramezanzadeh as well as the country’s Consul General Hassan Nourian and Iranian Military Attaché Mohammad Mohsen Shahabi were present as well.
The Iranian delegation briefed the Pakistani Army official on the latest defense and military achievements by their country.
In another development, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said its Ground Force has kicked off a joint military drill with the Azerbaijan Republic’s Army in northwest Iran. In an announcement on Sunday evening, the IRGC said that the four-day drill named “Aras Joint Exercise” began earlier in the day.
The drill is conducted by Special Forces of the IRGC Ground Force and Special Forces of Azerbaijan’s Army in the border district of Aslan Duz in Ardabil Province, according to the announcement.
The drill is aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries and their bilateral cooperation on fighting illegally-organized armed groups. The exercise is also aimed at protecting security of joint borders, promoting military capabilities and expanding defense cooperation at tactical and operational levels, in accordance with the agreements reached in line with common interests of the two sides.
During the ceremony on Monday, Major General Farid Aliyev, Deputy Chief of Staff of Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces, stated that elite Iranian and Azeri forces are sharing military experiences and tactics during the exercise.
Brigadier General Vali Madani, Deputy Chief of Operations for the IRGC Ground Force, noted that the joint exercise aims to strengthen bilateral relations, enhance cooperation in combating organized armed groups, improve the security of shared borders, and expand defense collaboration at operational and tactical levels.
