Jordan Armed Forces, ASELSAN Explore Cooperation

Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF), Major General Yousef Huneiti, welcomed Monday a delegation of ASELSAN Middle East, a leading international defense electronics company, on Monday at the General Command.

The meeting, attended by senior JAF Officers and the Director General of the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JDDB), reviewed prospects to enhance joint cooperation in defense industries, particularly military equipment and electronic optics, to meet the needs of JAF and expand future cooperation.

ASELSAN Middle East was inaugurated by His Majesty King Abdullah II in 2014 at the JDDB to design, develop, test, and manufacture military equipment for night, thermal, and daytime surveillance, as well as electronic systems and solutions.

Furthermore, Major General Yousef Huneiti on Monday received EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas at the General Command headquarters of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF).

During the meeting, attended by senior JAF officers, they talked about regional and international developments of mutual interest, as well as prospects of enhancing military cooperation and coordination.

The Army Chief referred to the strategic partnership between Jordan and the EU, stressing the need to deepen and expand relations to address common challenges and promote international peace and security, , Petra news agency reported.

For his part, the EU envoy commended Jordan’s pivotal role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in promoting regional stability, praising the efficiency of JAF in its humanitarian, relief, and medical contributions.

Earlier, Major General Yousef Huneiti visited the Central Military Region Command on Sunday, where he was received by the region’s Commander.

During the visit, Huneiti praised the efforts and professionalism of the personnel in addressing various security challenges within their area of responsibility.

He toured an exhibition showcasing key equipment, weapons and tools used by the region’s forces, expressing his admiration for their high level of preparedness and combat readiness.

Huneiti reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ ongoing commitment to modernising weapons and equipment systems to keep pace with current and future security developments.

He emphasised that these upgrades are essential to fulfilling the Armed Forces’ mission of safeguarding the Kingdom’s security and stability.

He also met with military personnel from the region, in the presence of several senior officers. He conveyed the confidence and pride of His Majesty, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and commended the dedication of the Armed Forces across all units and specialties.

Lastly, he stressed that the military will remain the nation's shield and a key pillar of its security in the face of all challenges.
