Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Pays Official Visits to Jordan, Egypt

His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan met Sunday with Pakistan Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, covered ways to enhance cooperation between Jordan and Pakistan, especially in defence, as well as regional developments.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Jordan Muhammad Ajmal Iqbal attended the meeting.

Earlier, Major General Yousef Huneiti, separately received the Pakistani guest and his accompanying delegation, Petra news agency reported.

During a meeting held at the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) General Command, Huneiti and Munir discussed areas of joint military cooperation and coordination, as well as ways to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries' armed forces, particularly in defense, training, and exchange of expertise, to serve mutual interests and enhance both armies’ capabilities.

Talking during the meeting, Huneiti highlighted the “deep-rooted” relations between the two countries’ armed forces, citing and the mutual commitment to advancing cooperation in various military fields and calling for continued coordination to achieve common goals and elevate joint military collaboration.

The two sides were briefed on training, operational, and logistical programs and plans aimed at enhancing military cooperation, especially in exercises and training courses designed to develop defense capabilities.

For his part, Munir expressed appreciation for Jordan’s “pivotal” role, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, in supporting regional and international efforts to promote security and stability. He also commended the JAF’s “high professionalism and distinguished performance.”

Pakistan’s Ambassador and defense attaché in Amman, alongside several senior JAF officers, attended the meeting.

Following his visit to Jordan, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) paid an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt. The visit aims to enhance military cooperation and defence collaboration between the two brotherly countries.

During the visit, the Field Marshal called on the Egyptian Minister of Defence and Defence Production, General Abdul Maged Saqar, and the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fatehi.

Matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation and bilateral defence cooperation were discussed during the meetings, Pakistani media reported.

Field Marshal Asim Munir affirmed that Egypt is a brotherly country and that cooperation between the two states will not only benefit their peoples but also contribute towards peace and stability in the region.

At the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, the Field Marshal was accorded a warm welcome and presented with a Guard of Honour. He also laid floral wreaths at the memorial of the unknown soldier and at the grave of the late President Mohamed Anwar Al-Sadat.

The COAS also met His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, at Mashaikhat Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. The Grand Imam shared his views on the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah, while the COAS emphasized the need to eradicate extremist ideologies and distorted interpretations of Islam.
