On the third and last day of his official visit to Italy, General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of People’s National Army Staff was received Thursday by the Italian Minister of Defense, Mr. Guido Crosetto (photo), in the presence of Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Italian Chief of Defence Staff.
The two parties welcomed the excellent bilateral military cooperation between the two friendly countries, which reflects the understanding and great trust that distinguish Algerian-Italian relations in more than one way. The two parties also reviewed the development of the situation and the geopolitical changes prevailing in the areas of common interest.
General Chanegriha expressed his warm thanks to his host for the welcome and hospitality he received, before conveying to him the greetings of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who attaches particular interest to efforts aimed at elevating Algerian-Italian relations, in all sectors, to the highest levels, particularly in areas related to bilateral military cooperation.
The General also reviewed the areas of bilateral cooperation, which is experiencing positive momentum and recording tangible results, thanks to the firm will of the leaders of the two countries to elevate it to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership, the Algerian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
For his part, the Italian Minister of Defense expressed his great satisfaction at receiving the Algerian military delegation and his confidence in the ability of the two friendly countries to build a solid and mutually beneficial partnership, particularly in the areas of security and defence.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts.
Then, General Saïd Chanegriha visited the Italian company Leonardo, one of the leading companies in Europe in the defence industry and advanced technologies, which offers a wide range of military solutions, particularly in the fields of aeronautics, aerospace and land and naval defense systems.
The General received extensive explanations on the modern defence technologies and systems offered by the Italian company, whose managers expressed their interest in consolidating their partnership with Algeria in the various aspects of military industries.
Subsequently, the General visited the headquarters of Fincantieri which is specialized in the naval military industry, where he followed a presentation retracing the history of the naval partnership between Algeria and Italy. Then he enquired about the production capacities of Fincantieri in the field of construction of warships and naval military equipment, as well as the modern techniques it offers.
Mr. Biagio Mazzotta, CEO of Fincantieri affirmed that Algeria constitutes a reliable and serious partner on the regional and international levels. At the end, the two parties discussed the means allowing a transfer of technology, in addition to the intensification of the exchange of expertise between military engineers and technicians of the two countries.
