KNDS France Signs Five MoUs in Land Defence at INDO DEFENCE 2025

The long-term partnership with Indonesia is strategic to KNDS. As such, KNDS France’s regional office in Jakarta has been opened in 2022, aiming to strengthen and deepen the strategic industrial partnership with Indonesia on the long-term. KNDS France understands the Indonesian government willingness to achieve autonomy and self-sufficiency in some key defense domains and commits to contribute to these goals.

KNDS France reiterates its full commitment to develop on a long term a stronger and sustainable industrial cooperation with BUMN and private sectors through Transfer of Technology and Transfer of Manufacturing, especially in artillery and medium to large calibre ammunition domains contributing to Indonesian government roadmap to strengthen Indonesian Defence industry.

As a consequence, KNDS France is pleased to announce the signing of five strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in land defence domain with KEMHAN and Indonesian industries during the INDO DEFENCE 2025 exhibition. These mutually beneficial MoUs will strengthen KNDS France’s industrial partnership with Indonesia’s DTIB.

These MoUs include PT PINDAD for future cooperation in the field of artillery and large caliber ammunition, all with a local production transfer and PT DIRGANTARA for collaboration regarding the equipment of Indonesian helicopters with 20mm cannons. PT SSE is also included in order to develop a counter-UAV variant of the locally made P2-TIGER, as well as BALITBANG to explore research and developments topics regarding land defense.

KNDS (KMW+NEXTER Defense Systems) is the result of the association of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Nexter, two of the leading European manufacturers of military land systems based in Germany and France.

KNDS forms a Group of around 10,000 employees, with a 2024 turnover of 3.8 billion euro, an order backlog of around 23.5 billion euro and incoming orders of 11.2 billion euro.

The range of its products includes main battle tanks, armored vehicles, artillery systems, weapons systems, ammunition, military bridges, customer services, battle management systems, training solutions, protection solutions and a wide range of equipment.

The formation of KNDS represents the beginning of consolidation in land defense systems industry in Europe. The strategic alliance between KMW and Nexter enhances both groups’ competitiveness and international positions, as well as their ability to meet the needs of their respective national army. In addition, it offers to its European and NATO customers the opportunity of increased standardization and interoperability for their defense equipment, with a dependable industrial base.
