AERO Vodochody signed a contract with Embraer for the development and production of a new military transport multi-purpose aircraft KC-390.
AERO Vodochody will take part in a design and production of Wing Fixed Leading Edge, technological development and production of All Cabin Doors (7 in total), Cargo Ramp and Rear Fuselage II.
“We are really proud to be a part of such excellent team to cooperate with Embraer on this new project. This project will bring to AERO exclusive know-how, provide production for the Czech aircraft industry for many years to come including new jobs, distinctively increase export to Brazil and contribute to revenue of the national budget. I firmly believe that we never fail the trust that we have been honored with”, said the President of AERO Vodochody Ladislav Simek, adding that the new project is a result of negotiations during which AERO passed many audits confirming that AERO Vodochody belongs with its competence among important aircraft manufacturers capable of fulfilling all demanding requirements of OEM manufacturer.
Negotiations about potential cooperation commenced during the visit of the Czech President Vaclav Klaus in Brazil in November 2009 and were supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade CR and Ministry of Defense CR. Result of cooperation on the government level was the act of signing the Declaration of Intentions by Ministers of Defense, both Brazil and the Czech Republic on 13th of September, 2010 confirming cooperation of ministries in realization of the project KC-390.
The EMBRAER KC-390 sets a new standard in medium-lift military transport. A twin turbofan with outstanding operational productivity, the KC-390 has the lowest total life cycle cost and the highest availability in its class.
Capable of being refueled in flight and also quickly configured as a tanker, the KC-390 uses state-of-the-art avionics, with dual HUD, and a full-featured mission system, including accurate computed air release point (CARP). It is equipped with a complete self-protection system and is fully NVG compatible.
The KC-390 presents extraordinary field performance and is capable of operating from short and semi-prepared airstrips. A full fly-by-wire flight control system with optimized functions assures best mission performance and safe flying with reduced crew workload.
