Defense and security company Saab has received a military training authorization from the Swedish Military Aviation Safety Inspectorate. Saab now can deliver technician training for both the Gripen fighter and SK60 trainer.
Saab has extensive experience in training technicians for civilian aircraft in accordance with civilian aviation regulations. These operations are now being expanded to include military technician training, which was previously conducted only by the Swedish armed forces (in Halmstad, Sweden). Saab has become a certified training organization according to the Sweden’s Rules for Military Aviation (RML), and has established a dedicated training organization within its business area Support and Services. The training of technicians for the Gripen and SK60 will be available for both Swedish and export market needs.
“Our civilian technician training has set a high standard, and the fact that we have now have been certified according to military regulations confirms this. There is an increased need for military technicians for all aircraft types and, with our expanded training organization, we will be able to ensure those requirements are met,” said Jonas Hjelm, Head of Saab business area Support and Services.
Aircraft technician training is now underway at Ljungbyhed and Linköping in Sweden.
