In May this year, the French Army conducted a training campaign of firings in preparation for the next operational deployment of the MMP missile.

In parallel, a number of additional firings were made to test the capacity of the system beyond its normal operating range.

The result was that two firings were made over a range of 5,000 meters, both of which were completely successful.

These firings, in which the seeker was locked onto the target before firing, confirm the exceptional performance of the MMP acquisition and guidance sequence.

They will contribute to building the confidence of future users, who may have to respond effectively under highly challenging operational conditions.

The MMP program plans a total inter-force installed base of 400 firing units and 1,950 missiles by 2025. The first hardware to be delivered is currently in use for user training. The weapons system is expected to be deployed for external operations before the end of this year.

With a significant presence in five European countries and within the USA, in 2017 MBDA achieved a turnover of 3.1 billion Euros with an order book of 16.8 billion Euros. With more than 90 armed forces customers in the world, MBDA is a world leader in missiles and missile systems.

MBDA is the only European group capable of designing and producing missiles and missile systems that correspond to the full range of current and future operational needs of the three armed forces (land, sea and air).

In total, the group offers a range of 45 missile systems and countermeasures products already in operational service and more than 15 others currently in development.

MBDA is jointly held by Airbus (37.5%), BAE Systems (37.5%), and Leonardo (25%).
