AM General has received an order to provide 739 new M1152A1 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) to the U.S. Army National Guard as a part of their modernization initiatives valued at $89 million. This is in addition to the 740 new HMMWVs ordered in October 2018.
“AM General is excited to continue the strong partnership with the Army National Guard and supports their efforts to modernize and enhance the readiness of the Humvee fleet,” said Chris Vanslager, Executive Vice President, U.S. Defense.
The single cab, open cargo M1152A1 HMMWV variant is enhanced with Integrated Armor Protection, can serve as a troop or cargo transport vehicle, and is easily transportable by land, sea, or air.
Modernization enhancements include improvements to the powertrain, suspension, cooling and electrical systems, and make these new HMMWV's more powerful, rugged and reliable. Delivery of this recent order of M1152A1 HMMWVs will begin in the third quarter of 2019.
