Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) announced it has appointed Lesley A. Kalan as Vice President of Legislative Affairs, effective October 25. Kalan will report to Sid Ashworth, Corporate Vice President of Government Relations.
In her new role, Kalan leads the corporate Legislative Affairs organization and staff. She is responsible for implementing and overseeing all Northrop Grumman strategic and tactical interactions with the U.S. Congress and related organizations, including the development of proactive strategies to promote Northrop Grumman’s legislative agenda and build legislative and policy coalitions.
“We are pleased to have Lesley Kalan join our Government Relations leadership team. Her extensive experience as a member of the professional staff of the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee, combined with her private sector work in strategic business development will serve her well in her new role with the company,” Ashworth said.
Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Kalan was Vice President with the Cohen Group from 2006 to 2010 where she created strategies and business development campaigns for clients seeking new business in domestic and international markets. Previously, she served for five years as Senior Analyst for Department of Defense and intelligence community procurement, research, development, test and evaluation programs as a member of the professional staff of the U.S. Senate, Committee on Appropriations, Defense Subcommittee. Kalan also served as a Committee Fellow and as a Presidential Management Fellow in the office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense.
She earned a master’s degree in Public Administration and Policy from the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy, Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of South Florida.
Kalan is a member of the U.S. Navy Director’s Senior Panel and a recipient of the Department of the Navy Superior Public Service Award.
