Egypt’s Military Technical College, Galala University Sign Cooperation Protocol

The Military Technical College (MTC) in Egypt signed a cooperation protocol with Galala University in the scientific, research, technical and applied fields of common interest within the framework of the Armed Forces’ interest in cooperation with various scientific and research institutions to prepare new generations capable of shouldering responsibility according to the latest modern education methods.

Major General Prof. Dr. Ismail Mohamed Kamal, Director of the Military Technical College, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shennawy, Acting President of Galala University, signed the protocol in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and a number of leaders of the Armed Forces and Galala University officials.

The protocol aims to form engineering, technical and scientific teams, to publish joint research, to provide technical consultations in engineering fields, to establish projects and laboratories between the two sides in research activities, to make use of joint databases, to hold training courses, to exploit laboratory capabilities and technical cadres and to open access to scientific libraries for both sides, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense (MoD) said in a statement.

On 27 October 1957, the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces issued a decree that stated: “In compliance with directions from the Egyptian leaderships, and studies launched by the Armed Forces to establish a scientific military college to fulfill the army’s need for professional engineers. So the Army will no longer rely on foreign experts and conduct, independently, the researches and technical activities reaching the target of creating the required generation”.

On 17 November 1958, the organizational order was issued, allowing distinguished officers from Armed Forces to start their studies at the MTC. The study was divided into two stages. The first stage, the medium stage, lasted for two years. Meanwhile, the second stage, the advanced stage, lasted for three years. In addition to the study stages, the organizational order included the requirements of admission, scientific branches, as well as the duties of the graduates.

In 1958, the Military College for Science was established and occupied Abd El-Rehiem Sabry Palace in Dokky, Cairo.

Galala University (GU) is a new “4th generation” private Egyptian university, consolidated by the Decree of the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt issuing Law No. 12 of 2009 Regulating Private and National Universities and the executive regulations. Operating since October  2020, Galala University (GU) offers bachelor’s degree programs in multiple disciplines like; Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, Computer Science, Administrative Sciences, Art and Design, and much more.
