Egyptian Commander-in-Chief Receives Hellenic, Dutch Defence Ministers

General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Minister of Defence and Military Production, met with His Excellency Mr. Nikos Dendias, Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic (photo), and his accompanying delegation, during their visit to Egypt last week.

An official reception ceremony was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defence, and the military Music played the national anthems of both countries.

The meeting discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation in various fields, the consensus on intensifies efforts to support military cooperation between the two sides, and to explore new horizons for strengthening relations between the Armed Forces of the two friendly countries, the Eyptian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

The Greek Defense Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian Armed Forces. He also stressed, in this context, his country's keenness to enhance coordination and partnership at the military and security levels between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, a number of Commandeers of the Armed Forces of both countries, the Greek Ambassador, and the Military Attaché of the Hellenic Republic in Cairo.

General Mohamed Zaki also met on 20 December with Mrs. Kajsa Ollongren, Dutch Defence Minister, and her accompanying delegation, during their visit to Egypt.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance military cooperation and exchange of expertise between the Armed Forces of the two friendly countries. The latest developments on the regional and international scenes were also discussed.

The Dutch Defence Minister expressed her appreciation for the role of the Egyptian Armed Forces in maintaining stability in the Middle East. She also stressed her country’s keenness to strengthen the joint relations between the two sides.
