Jordanian Army Chief Visits Royal Field Air Defense Directorate

Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti, called on the Royal Field Air Defense Directorate on Wednesday, where he was welcomed by its Director.

Huneiti was briefed on the Royal Field Air Defense tasks and future plans, as well as overseeing the progress of training and operational duties of various units, with the aim of achieving the highest levels of efficiency and readiness.

The Army Chief said the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army’s command is keen on developing and modernizing the air defense system, particularly in the areas of technology to intercept drones and deal with aerial targets.

He commended the distinguished level and professionalism of Field Air Defense personnel and their role in safeguarding national security and safety in cooperation with the various units of the Armed Forces, Petra news agency reported.

In another development, the Jordan Armed Forces, through the Royal Medical Services, received the seventh batch of medical aid from Germany on Wednesday. The shipment includes essential medicines and medical equipment.

The aid was delivered in the presence of Brigadier General Dr. Sahel Hammouri, Assistant Director-General of the Royal Medical Services for Medical Affairs and Regions, and German Ambassador to Jordan, Bertram von Moltke. The supplies will be sent to Jordan’s field hospitals operating in Gaza.

“With today’s shipment, German humanitarian aid has provided around 16 tons of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals to Jordan’s field hospitals in Gaza since 2023,” the German Ambassador said, praising the Royal Medical Services for ensuring the delivery of critical assistance to civilians in need.

He reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to continuing its support with additional humanitarian shipments.

Hammouri, speaking on behalf of the Jordan Armed Forces, expressed gratitude to the German government for its support of the Royal Medical Services amid the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation during humanitarian emergencies to save lives and deliver high-quality, effective medical care to alleviate suffering in the region.
