Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Second Deputy Premier, Advisor to and Special Envoy of the Saudi King received at his palace in Jeddah on Tuesday evening Yemeni Defense Minister Major General Mohammed Nasser Ahmed.
The Yemeni Minister congratulated Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the royal confidence appointing him as Deputy Crown Prince.
Major General Ahmed also conveyed to Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud the greetings of President Abdrabbou Mansour Hadi of Yemen.
For his part, Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud sent his greetings to the President.
During the meeting, aspects of the current cooperation between the two sisterly countries and ways of enhancing them were reviewed as well as the developments of the situation in the region and the latest in the Arab and international arenas.
The audience was attended by the Consultant and General Supervisor at the Deputy Crown Prince and the Second Deputy Premier’s office Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Hawas and the Saudi Military Attaché in Sana’a Brigadier General Muzker bin Abdulrahman Al-Harthi.
Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz was officially named on Thursday 27 March 2014 as second-in-line to the Saudi throne while keeping his job as the Second Deputy Prime Minister.
The Saudi Royal Court issued a decree appointing him as Deputy Crown Prince, and confirming him as the successor to the current Crown Prince Salman should he become King.
Prince Muqrin is the youngest son of Saudi Arabia's founder, King Abdulaziz al-Saud.
Prince Muqrin was born in 1945 and has occupied several senior positions in the kingdom. Recently he served as a special advisor to King Abdullah.
From 2005 to 2012 he served as the Head of the General Intelligence. From 1980 to 1999 he served as the Governor of Hail province and was later appointed as the Governor of Madinah.
Prince Muqrin went to elementary school in the capital Riyadh and joined the Saudi Royal Air Force in 1964. He graduated from the UK with a degree in Aeronautics in 1968. He worked in the Air Force until 1980.
