Saudia Arabia’s Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz received at his office in Riyadh Friday the Minister of the French Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu.
The meeting reviewed strategic Saudi-French relations and opportunities of cooperation and coordination in the military and defense fields and ways to enhance them, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Saudi and French officials attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia shall be participating in the Defense and Security Equipment International (DSEI 2023) exhibition via a delegation led by the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), and the participation of the Ministry of Investment, Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) and the Saudi Chemical Holding Company, in addition to the participation of World Defense Show (WDS), during the period 12 - 15 September at the ExCel London Center in the United Kingdom.
The Kingdom’s participation in DSEI 2023 is evidence of the unwavering support and special care that the Kingdom's defense industries sector receives from the Kingdom's leadership, thereby driving the realization of its ambitious vision of enhancing the Kingdom's strategic autonomy, developing its indigenous capabilities, ultimately pursuant to localizing more than 50% of expenditure on defense equipment and services by the year 2030.
The sector looks to become a significant contributor to the Saudi economy through the transfer of technology, enablement of local suppliers and international investors, and creating employment opportunities for its human talent.
The Kingdom’s participation also aims to foster strategic partnerships with international defense companies, streamline access to sizeable investment opportunities in the sector, and maximize its contribution to the national economy.
DSEI aims to highlight the sector's attractive investment environment and its incentives and promising opportunities by expanding horizons of international cooperation with major regional and international companies, and by facilitating strategic partnerships between local companies operating in the sector and their counterparts from across the globe.
