Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), received in his office at Al Murtafa’a Garrison Sunday Admiral Nicolas Vaujour Chief of Staff of the French Navy (photo) and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed areas of cooperation and exchanged views on several matters of common concern, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
The meeting was attended by Commodore Issa Salim Al Owaisi, Assistant Chief of Staff for Administration and Supply, a number of senior COSAF officers and the Military Attaché of the French Embassy at Muscat.
For his part, Major General Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies also received in his office at Bait Al Falaj Garrison the visiting Chief of Staff of the French Navy and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several military topics of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier Nasser Abdullah Al Qutabi, Head of the Centre for Strategic and Defence Studies at the Academy, Senior officers at the Academy and the Military Attaché of the French Embassy at Muscat.
Furthermore, the Chief of Staff of the French Navy and his accompanying delegation visited the National Defence College (NDC) at Bait Al Falaj Garrison.
The guest was accompanied during the visit by Major General Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies.
Upon the delegation’s arrival at the college, they were greeted by Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the NDC.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several matters of mutual interest, especially in academic and training fields.
Afterwards, the French Navy’s Chief of Staff gave a lecture in which he spoke about the prominent roles and tasks carried out by the French Navy. He also highlighted the accelerating development in modern technologies, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence. The guest also spoke about several other topics of relevance.
Moreover, the guest and his accompanying delegation also visited the Maritime Security Centre (MSC). Upon the guest’s arrival, he was greeted by the Acting Head of the MSC.
The guest and members of the visiting delegation were briefed on the roles and tasks carried out by the centre in maintaining the safety of the Omani maritime environment. They also toured the Centre’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies.
