The Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman has signed a renewal addendum to the academic connection agreement between the Military Technological College (MTC) and the University of Portsmouth (UK), as part of the two institutions’ existing cooperation.

The signing ceremony took place during the visit of Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence, to the United Kingdom where he held meetings with officials of the UK Ministry of Defence.

The Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence was accompanied by a military delegation comprising senior officers from the Ministry of Defence and the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

By royal directives of His late Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, may his soul rest in peace, the Military Technological College was established. Its fundamental aim is to consolidate technical and vocational education within a unified institution, according to MTC’s website.

The College serves as a key source of skilled and trained technical personnel for the Ministry of Defence, the Sultan’s Armed Forces of Oman, and various military and security agencies across the Sultanate of Oman.

In this era of the renewed renaissance, under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the Supreme Commander, may God protect him, the College continues its journey of development and modernisation. The College receives the highest level of attention and unwavering support in order to further strengthen its educational and research capabilities.

The College’s mission is to deliver excellence in academic and technical education and training by providing specialised, vocational, and professional accredited programmes to military and security services and the community.
