Pakistan’s Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Visits Sultanate of Oman

Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), received Monday General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (photo).

The meeting took place at SAF Chief of Staff’s office at Al Murtafa'a Garrison, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

An official reception ceremony was held in honour of the Pakistani official upon his arrival at Al Murtafa’a Garrison, where the Guard of Honour gave the military salute to the accompaniment of a military music. Then, the guest inspected the Guard of Honour.

Vice Admiral Abdullah welcomed the guest. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views about matters of common interest.

The meeting was attended by Brigadier Badr Nassir Al Kharousi, Director General of the Joint Military Intelligence and Preventive Security at COSAF. It was also attended by the Military Attaché at the Pakistani Embassy in Muscat.

For his part, General Sultan Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office received Wednesday the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and his accompanying delegation.

The Pakistani guest expressed his appreciation to the Sultanate of Oman for facilitating means of enhancing cooperation in a bid to achieve joint interests.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed several matters of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and his accompanying delegation visited the Maritime Security Centre (MSC).

The delegation was greeted upon their arrival at the MSC by the Head of the Centre.

Members of the visiting delegation were briefed on the tactical roles and tasks carried out by the Centre in the safety of the maritime environment. They also toured the Centre’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies used in carrying out its national duties.

The Pakistani Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff also visited the National Defence College (NDC) at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies.

Upon the guest’s arrival at the college, he was greeted by Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the NDC.

The guest and his accompanying delegation were briefed about the College, its vision and strategic programmes. They also learned about the NDC’s tasks and duties.

Lastly, Major General Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies received at Bait Al Falaj Garrison General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed several matters of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by a number of Senior Officers of the Academy.
