Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) received in his office at Al Murtafa’a Garrison last week Vice Admiral Vennam Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command of the Republic of India and his accompanying military delegation.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several topics of common interest, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier Hamed Abdullah Al Balushi, SAF Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning, a number of senior COSAF Officers and the Military Attaché of India’s Embassy in Muscat.
For his part, Rear Admiral Saif Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) also received the Indian delegation (photo). During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the existing cooperation in various naval military fields and means of enhancing them.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior RNO officers and the Military Attaché in the Indian Embassy at Muscat.
Moreover, the Indian delegation visited the National Defence College (NDC). Upon their arrival, the guests were greeted by Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the College.
Members of the visiting delegation were briefed on the College’s facilities and its strategic curriculum, which focuses on preparing national competencies capable of making strategic decisions at various levels. They also toured the NDC’s departments and various halls.
Lastly, the Indian delegation visited the Maritime Security Centre (MSC) on Monday. The guests were received upon their arrival at the Centre by Commodore Adil Hamoud Al Busaidi, Head of the MSC.
Members of the visiting delegation were briefed on the tactical roles and tasks carried out by the Centre in the safety of the Omani maritime environment.
They also toured the Centre’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies used in carrying out its national duties.
