220 companies from 33 countries, including 7 debutants, are showcasing their products at Milipol Qatar 2010, the international exhibition of the internal state security, which opened in Doha today.
The 3-day event is being held under the auspices of Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Heir Apparent, said Brigadier Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani, President of Milipol Qatar Committee.Brigadier Nasser said all arrangements have been made for the successful conduct of the 8th edition of the security expo which is held in Qatar every 2 years.
The total area occupied for the exhibition is 7,135 sq m where 7 pavilions have been set up, he added. These include: The Qatari Pavilion with 12 companies, French (45 companies), the US (15 companies), German (10 companies), Singaporean (3 companies) with 2 new Pavilions of Chinese (9 companies) and Czech (7 companies).
Finland, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Kazakhstan, Japan and Tunisia are taking part for the first time, he said.
On the local participation, Brigadier Nasser said that the Qatar Ministry of Interior will put up a strong show with a 1,200 sq m pavilion and Internal Security Force (Lakhwiya) with a pavilion of 1,496 sq m.
'There will be six main departments in the Ministry's pavilion - Information Systems Department, PR, Coasts and Borders' Security Department, Criminal Evidences and Information Department and Traffic Department in addition to Al-Adeid program and Leaders Training Centre under the Police Training Institute.'
Milipol Exhibitions General Manager Michael Weatherseed, said, 'The huge visitor turnout and the volume of exhibition show that the Milipol Qatar is in constant progress and we are happy to continue our partnership with Milipol Qatar exhibition committee. We also hope that the coming sessions will show more growth.'
Brigadier Nasser and Weatherseed also launched a permanent website for Milipol in the presence of Qatar Member of the Milipol Qatar Committee Lt. Col. Abdulla Khalifa Al-Muftah, the head of the Media Centre First Lt. Mubarak Salim Al-Buainain and other officials.
The 9th session of Milipol Qatar will be held from November 26 to 28, 2012.
