$45m Contracts Signed at Milipol Qatar

A total of 11 contracts worth QR163.88 million ($45 million) were signed during the Milipol Qatar 2010 exhibition which was held in Qatar earlier this week (25-27 October 2010).
Qatar's Ministry of  Interior (MoI) signed 3 new contracts worth approximately QR 61.5 million ($16.9 million) with 3 companies at the show.
The first contract worth QR6.65 million was inked with a British company called De La Rue identity systems for delivering e-passports. The Nationality and Travel Document Department will benefit from this contract.
The second contract was signed with 'Link projects' for the amount of QR37.9 million for building 2 floating centers for Coasts and Borders Security Department (CBSD).
The floating centre consists of a mosque, sports hall, bedrooms and a tower. It can store 1000 liters of diesel and 1000 liters of healthy water. In addition to this, it has 2 sea water desalination plants. The centre carries a number of marine vessels and equipments that will be used by the CBSD for carrying out its duties. The area of one floating centre is 33 meters length and 18 meters width.
The third contract was signed with Abdullah Abdul Ghani & Sons Company for QR16.9 million for supplying 125 vehicles (of which 108 are Land Cruiser model cars) that will be used for patrolling purposes and the rest will be used for the ministry's purposes.
More than 5,500 professional visitors attended the 8th edition of the exhibition, said President of Milipol Qatar Committee Brigadier Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani.
The expo attracted 222 exhibitors from 33 countries, said General Manager of Milipol Exhibitions Michael Weatherseed. There were 7 countries participating in the expo for the first time including Finland, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Kazakhstan, Japan, and Tunisia. It also attracted 107 official delegations from around the world.     
The next Milipol Qatar Exhibition will be held from November 26-28, 2012.
