The interlocutors stressed the importance of political dialogue between the two countries, an aspect on which both Poland and the UAE place great focus. This dialogue significantly contributes to strengthening our economic cooperation. Deputy Minister Winid noted that the UAE have become Poland’s key commercial partner in the Arab world, as trade volume amounted to almost USD 1 billion in 2013. Deputy Chief of Poland’s diplomacy also underscored that tourist and commercial exchanges are now easier thanks to the new direct air service between Dubai and Warsaw, operated by Emirates airlines since February 2013.
The Ambassador thanked Poland for supporting Dubai’s bid for World EXPO 2020. Deputy Minister Winid mentioned prospects of involving Polish firms in developing infrastructure for the event. He added that the launch, in mid-2014, of the Trade and Investment Promotion Section in the Polish Embassy in Abu Dhabi will be an important step towards fostering economic relations between the two countries. Other discussed topics included common initiatives planned for this year, such as the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and the United Arab Emirates.
