Navies of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait seek to unify operational concepts and promote cooperation and integration in the conduct of military actions in general, and the Navy, in particular.
Union 17 began 0n 02 March 2015 and concluded on 12 March.
The exercise is part of annual joint exercises between the GCC member states in order to raise the level of combat efficiency and the spirit of mutual cooperation in the leadership and management of the joint operations in real Naval War to face any challenges facing the GCC countries.
The aim of this exercise is to unify the operational concepts and achieve cooperation and integration in the implementation of joint operations in general and the Navy in particular, as well as the exchange of knowledge and experiences and to achieve the greatest possible unification of the concept of joint operations between the Gulf Cooperation Council forces.
The Chief of Naval Forces Operations Staff Vice Admiral Ghusham bin Manahi Al-Qahtani pointed out that the exercise was carried out within a series of exercises for supporting the integration between the branches of the GCC Naval Forces and raising the level of their readiness and preparedness.
A joint GCC Maritime Security Force could be formed in the coming months.
