Bahrain's Police will soon receive hi-tech help in combating crime, said a report citing senior Interior Ministry officials.
A new surveillance system to track down suspects, monitor violence and trace the whereabouts of fugitives is on the way.
This follows a deal signed between the Interior Ministry and South Korea's Samsung S1 Corporation during a historic visit by South Korean Prime Minister Jung Hong-won to Bahrain last month.
Scores of CCTV cameras will be linked to the Urban Security Control and Command Centre, which will be run by the Interior Ministry, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.
The state-of-the-art centre will also help clear roads for emergency services, ease traffic congestion and regulate traffic flow.
“I think it will be very effective in lowering the crime rate in the kingdom as it will help track culprits via CCTVs,” said South Korean Charge d'Affaires Joonha Yu.
