Under the patronage of Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Joint Tactical Exercise of the security agencies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) (Arabian Gulf Security 4), was launched in Qatar on Sunday.

The opening ceremony was attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior HE Abdullah bin Khalaf bin Hattab Al Kaabi, Assistant Secretary-General for Security Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat Brigadier-General Hamad Ajlan Al Amim, heads of the exercise’s higher committees in the GCC countries, and a number of security leaders, officers, and representatives of the participating security agencies.

The exercise will continue until February 4, with the participation of security agencies and forces from the GCC states along with specialized security units from the United States of America, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

The exercise includes the execution of more than 70 training scenarios, totalling over 260 hours of intensive field training. The exercise aims to raise the level of security readiness, enhance integration and field coordination, and test the efficiency of operational plans and response mechanisms, reflecting the high level of professionalism and advanced ability of the Gulf security agencies to deal with various security challenges.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is participating in the exercise with a specialized security force from the Ministry of Interior and the Presidency of State Security, aiming to enhance security cooperation, strengthen coordination, and exchange expertise among the internal security sectors of GCC states, alongside specialized security units from the United States, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Bahraini police personnel participating in the joint tactical security exercise Arabian Gulf Security 4 also arrived in the State of Qatar on Friday, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

The Kingdom of Bahrain previously hosted the first edition of the joint tactical exercise Arabian Gulf Security in October 2016.

Meanwhile, the UAE security force participating in the Joint Tactical Exercise of the security agencies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Arabian Gulf Security 4) has arrived in the State of Qatar to take part in the exercise, UAE national news agency WAM reported.

The UAE’s participation comes within the framework of strengthening joint Gulf security cooperation and raising the level of coordination and field integration among security agencies in GCC countries, towards building a cohesive security system capable of addressing various policing, security and field challenges and developments.

The exercise is considered one of the most prominent joint Gulf tactical drills and reflects the continued commitment of security agencies in GCC countries to strengthening joint Gulf police cooperation and developing their capabilities in a manner that contributes to enhancing security and stability across the region.
