Bahrain’s Transportation Minister Highlights Success of BIAS 2024

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, commended the success of the seventh Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) 2024. He attributed this achievement to the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which has been substantially contributing to the advancement of the event over the years and solidifying its international prominence.

The Minister also highlighted the support and follow up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

The Minister commended the organisational leadership of Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, whose efforts reflect Bahrain’s rich heritage and progress. He praised the collective contributions of Team Bahrain, emphasising the collaboration among all entities in ensuring the event’s success.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed said that several factors that contributed to the airshow’s accomplishments, including the important role of the Bahrain Defence Force, represented by the Royal Bahraini Air Force, the strong reputation of the event from past editions, Bahrain’s safe and welcoming environment, and the hospitality of its people. The minister underlined the appeal of the event’s advanced infrastructure, logistical capabilities, and high quality technical expertise, which earned international recognition and acclaim.\

The Minister expressed pride in the airshow’s ability to attract leading global companies and institutions, with numerous agreements and deals signed during the event. He described the strong participation from exhibitors, participants, and visitors as further testament to Bahrain’s capability and an important addition to the nation’s track record of achievements.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed also emphasised Bahrain’s growing status as a hub for major events and a catalyst for business and innovation. He highlighted the airshow’s role as an ideal platform for forming partnerships and securing commercial agreements, contributing positively to economic growth and sustainable development, reinforcing its position as a key contributor to the aviation industry. The minister said that the airshow reflects Bahrain’s vision for innovation and technological advancement, supporting efforts to build a prosperous and secure future in aviation and space.

The Minister reaffirmed Bahrain’s progress under the leadership of His Majesty the King in achieving the principles of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. He highlighted efforts to attract investments, drive digital transformation, and create promising opportunities for growth, which further strengthens its leadership across various fields and its role in shaping a better future for the region and beyond.

Meantime, a cooperation agreement was signed between Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and Fanrborough International, a leading British company in organising global aviation events, for organising the next edition of the Bahrain International Airshow in 2026.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications; and Joe Muir, Aerospace Commercial Director at Farnborough International.

The agreement reaffirms the strong relationship between the ministry and Farnborough International, which has yielded success in holding the Bahrain International Airshow over the years.

The Minister commended the successful partnership with the company, which has played a key role in enhancing the organisational and technical standards of the airshow, solidifying its position as one of the leading international aviation events.

Muir expressed Farnborough International’s pride in renewing its cooperation with Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, highlighting the company’s commitment to delivering the best practices and innovative solutions in global event management.

Since its launch in 2010, the Bahrain International Airshow has served as a vital platform for fostering international cooperation in aviation and aerospace and showcasing the latest technologies and advancements in the sector.
