The Kuwaiti Naval Force, in cooperation with the Coast Guard, Ministry of Interior’s Vertical Aviation, and the US Navy, successfully carried out an operation named “Sea Shield” on December 2 and 3 in the northern Arabian Gulf.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, the operation involved intensive maritime patrols by ships and aircraft with the aim of maintaining security and stability, as well as addressing maritime challenges in the region, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
The Ministry highlighted that the “Sea Shield” operation focused on enhancing combat readiness, fostering experience exchange among participants, and providing training on the latest techniques used to support and strengthen maritime security.
In another development, after Kuwait renewed its call to finalize the demarcation of its maritime borders with Iraq beyond boundary point 162, Iraq’s Ambassador to Kuwait Almanhal Alsafi affirmed his country’s commitment to resolving all outstanding issues, including this critical matter.
Speaking on the sidelines of the UAE’s 53rd National Day reception, Alsafi emphasized that negotiations are progressing steadily under Iraq’s political leadership, with further discussions planned in the near future. He noted that significant understandings have already been reached and that formal talks are expected to commence before the end of the year. Expressing optimism, he highlighted the extensive coordination efforts, which he believes will soon yield tangible results. (Sources & Photo © Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense/KUNA)
