General His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Commander of Bahrain’s National Guard of Bahrain, participated in the Pakistan Day celebration held at the Presidential Palace in Islamabad.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency President Asif Ali Zardari of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Pakistan Day, a public holiday celebrated on March 23 each year, commemorates the day in 1956 when the country adopted its first constitution and became the world’s first Islamic republic.
On the sidelines of the celebration, General HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa met with Their Excellencies, to whom he conveyed the greetings and congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister.
He conveyed their best wishes to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and its people for continued progress, prosperity, security, and stability on this national occasion, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
General HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa congratulated the government, armed forces, and people of Pakistan on Pakistan Day, wishing the country further growth, prosperity, peace and stability.
The Commander of Bahrain’s National Guard arrived in Islamabad on 12 March on an official visit to participate in the celebrations marking Pakistan Day. During his visit, he met senior military and political officials, including Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber, the country’s Air Force Chief, and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the Chairperson of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
The meetings addressed topics of common interest and reviewed the longstanding military cooperation between Bahrain and Pakistan. The Bahraini guest praised the strong military cooperation between the two nations, and acknowledged the contribution of Pakistan’s armed forces to regional and international security.
The Commander of Bahrain’s National Guard also met with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff of the Pakistan Navy, at the naval headquarters in Islamabad, and General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at GHQ at Rawalpindi.
